Abstract
The behavioral treatment of PTSD is, in most cases, the treatment of choice, particularly with patients manifesting PTSD, chronic or delayed. It is the only treatment modality that is supported by objective measures of success. Although the use of behavioral techniques is indicated for the treatment of traumatic memories, they need not be used entirely independently. Indeed, behavioral treatment of PTSD symptomatology is conducted only in the context of a supportive therapeutic alliance.
