Abstract

According to the dictionary, a practice is a repeated or customary action or the usual way of doing something. In this chapter, I’ll share some of the practices that help me be a better developer. Some may be surprising. Others may appear to be common sense. With repetition and time, each of these practices will make you a more effective software engineer.Just like starting a new hobby or starting to exercise, take it easy. Don’t try to pick up all of these at once. Choose one that makes sense to you and, well, “practice” it. After you feel comfortable with that one, choose another.
