Abstract

Peptides of various sizes and compositions will become an important class of drugs in the future. Recent advances in molecular biology and pharmacology have shown that peptides can be developed as highly effective therapeutic agents in a number of different areas. As with many other drugs, however, the therapeutic efficacy is often diminished by their inability to reach the site of action in adequate amounts, and the choice of administration route is therefore important.
