Abstract
The programme in question is called DramAide, an acronym for Drama in AIDS Education. It was developed in 1992 from a University based pilot. In 1993 and 1994 it consisted of 10 teams, each having 2 university graduated “actor-teachers” and several selected community nurses. These teams were managed under contract by 3 local Universities, and contracted to reach more than 700 high schools with their programme as piloted. The contract gave wide powers to the management board, which enabled both a changing response to a developing epidemic, and a variety of approaches. This variety allows for informative field research and innovation, which helped us to monitor and motivate the field workers.
