Abstract

With any high-technology product there is inevitably development towards a better product, a product that is easier to manufacture and easier to use, and one that is more cost-effective. Over the past few years there has been an evolution from components which have leads to make contact to the pcb to components with no leads, which are soldered directly onto the pcb. Figure 14.1 shows these components mounted on to a pcb. The attachment of the component is dealt with in Chapter 13.
