Abstract
Flow, diffusion, and perfusion are different terms to describe the motion of molecules, in this context usually water molecules, from one point to another. Flow and diffusion are the fondamental physical processes, which can be measured using NMR by well-established techniques. Perfusion is a related physiological quantity, which can be measured fairly accurately by surgical or radiological techniques (as described elsewhere in this volume). The problem at hand is to specify the precise relationship between these phenomena.
