Abstract
A lipid transfer protein (LTP) was purified from germinated castor bean seeds to homogeneity by column chromatographies. This protein, possessing about 9, 000 of the molecular weight and higher than 10;5 of the isoelectric point, transferred PC, PI, PE, PG, PA, MGDG and DGDG, but not DG and TG, and the transfer activity remained unchanged after 30 min-heating at 90°C. This protein is one of non-specific LTPs as isolated from maize seedlings1 and spinach leaves2. This paper presents the determination of complete amino acid sequence of castor bean non-specific LTP. Based on the amino acid sequence, structural aspect is discussed in relation to the interaction of the protein with the lipid molecule.
