Abstract
The balance of endogenous calcium is maintained by the interaction of several intrinsic factors that control the remodeling of bone as well as the absorption and excretion of calcium. In general, hormonal regulation of calcium homeostasis is particularly important. Parathyroid hormone (PTH), vitamin D, and calcitonin are the principal hormones involved in modulating the distribution of endogenous calcium.
