Mutagen Testing with the Soybean Assay

  • Chapter
Basic and Applied Mutagenesis

Part of the book series: Basic Life Sciences ((BLSC))

Abstract

The soybean (Glycine max) system tests for induction of somatic mosaicism on the leaves. This mosaicism results from genetic changes induced by the agent in question in one or more cells which are rapidly dividing. Any type of mosaicism which results in a phenotypically distinct marker can be used.
