Abstract
Over the past fifteen years, renal transplantation has become the most acceptable treatment of end-stage renal disease. Because transplantation returns the patient to a normal physiological state by restoring normal renal function, it is more acceptable than hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis which, although prolonging survival in these patients, cannot adequately compensate for all of the complications of the uremic state.
