Educational Aspects of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry in Canada

Abstract

Consultation-liaison psychiatry has been a major development for improving the medical care of patients over the past thirty years. The integrated, holistic care emphasized by this approach has been touted as an idea educational approach for medical trainees, both undergraduate and postgraduate (3, 9). It is time to assess the extent that consultation-liaison psychiatry is used as a teaching method in psychiatry and to look at its impact on other training programs. The study to be reported was designed to answer some of these questions.
