Theme and Objectives of the Conference

Abstract

Electrochemistry is undergoing a renaissance which involves both fundamental and applied electrochemistry. In the applied area this renaissance has been stimulated by the energy problem, the environmental problem and the materials problems faced by industry and individual countries in a competitive world. The surge of activity in applied electrochemistry has spilled over into the fundamental research area. An additional factor is a new level of vigor that has entered into the science of electrochemistry over the past decade. This is in turn attracting outstanding graduate students and younger scientists into electrochemical research.
