Abstract

A variety of acarine species will bite or feed on humans to the extent that they may cause discomfort or a more serious health problem. These mites and ticks may be categorized as continuous or permanent parasites, temporary parasites, or those that do not colonize on their host, incidental or accidental parasites, and nonparastic mites that under certain circumstances attack humans. The approach to chemotherapy or control varies considerably, depending on the species causing a problem.
