Abstract

The aim of this symposium on antimutagenesis and anticarcinogenesis is to obtain information on the problem of prevention of human cancer. Carcinogenesis is associated with genetic changes in somatic cells produced by mutagens and carcinogens. The molecular mechanisms of human carcinogenesis are very complicated: multiple genetic changes are often observed in established cancer cell lines, and these changes are generally more numerous in more malignant cancer cells. Completion of the carcinogenic process requires a long time, and precancerous changes often persist for many years.
