Abstract
Recent experiments (Miller) (1) indicate the antibody-forming-cell-precursor (AFCP) in mice to be BM derived. On the other hand Good and coworkers demonstrated that in the chicken the Bursa of Fabricius is essential in the development of the antibody forming capacity. In the rabbit the gut-associated lymphoid tissue like Peyer’s patches etc. should represent the Bursa-aequivalent (2). Fichtelius (3) claims the intimate relationship between epithelium and lymphoid tissue to be essential for its functioning as a first level lymphoid organ.
