Abstract
Raman scattering and infrared optical properties of superionic conductor RbAg4I5 single crystals are studied. There are two broad maxima in Raman scattering and conductivity as a function of frequency. Using the Lyddane-Sachs-Teller relation and a theory of motions of cations in superionic conductors by Huberman and Sen, it is concluded that interactions between the ionic system and the host crystals have an important role in the dynamics of RbAg4I5. Motions of the silver ions may be explained in terms of a small polaron model.
