Abstract

The eating disorders discussed in this chapter include anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), and a new diagnostic entity called binge eating disorder (BED), which appears to be prominent among the obese population. AN and BN have increased in prevalence over the last 20 years and are characterized by disturbed eating behavior and body image.
