Abstract

A potential application of the mechanical alloying technique is to strengthen a material via extremely fine oxide dispersoids. Oxide dispersion strengthened alloys possess higher creep resistance and greater stability at elevated temperatures than conventional alloys (13). Typical examples of such commercially available alloys are Inconel MA754 (Ni-20Cr-0.2Al-0.5Ti-0.6Y2Q), Inconel MA758 (Ni-20Cr-0.3Al-0.5Ti-0.6Y2O), Inconel MA760 (Ni-20Cr-6Al-2Mo-3.5W-0.95Y2O), Inconel MA6000 (Ni-15Cr-4.5Al-2.5Ti-4W-2Mo-2Ta-1.1Y2O), Inconel MA956 (Fe-20Cr-4.5Al-0.5Ti-0.5Y2O) (4) and IncoMAP AL-905XL (Al-4Mg-1.3Li-0.4O-1,1C)(5).
