Long-Lasting Behavioral and Electrophysiological Effects Induced by Partial Hippocampal Kindling

  • Chapter
Kindling 5

Part of the book series: Advances in Behavioral Biology ((ABBI,volume 48))

Abstract

Partial epilepsy of temporal lobe origin, most commonly from the amygdala and the hippocampus, accounts for about one quarter of new epilepsy cases. Many epileptic patients are impaired in their memory and learning52. Relatively few studies have addressed the behavioral consequences of experimental seizures, and fewer yet have attempted to relate behavior and physiology.
