Abstract
This section considers the management of land and soil from the point of view of the farmer or manager producing sugar cane. The technical, mechanical engineering aspects of equipment fall outside the scope of this writing. Because operating machinery usually gives rise to a significant proportion of operating costs, some understanding of operating methodology is important. Prior to initiating, frequently costly work, plans must be drawn up and budgets prepared. These are discussed in Chapter 26
