Abstract
The issue of how forensic scientists must report to the judge or jury their conclusions when biometric identification techniques are used, is addressed in this contribution. Experts must convert system identification scores in meaningful values, useful to the Court. In this sense, the bayesian approach is firmly established as a valid framework for any forensic discipline. In this Chapter, we will show the different nature of system outputs when commercial or forensic approaches are used. Finally, a complete example of forensic characterization and reporting in the speaker recognition field will be shown.
