Abstract

Significant advances have been made in recent years in the management of head and neck cancers with the introduction of concurrent chemoradiotherapy, biological agents, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, and multimodalities treatment. Local failures however remain the major pattern of failure and cause of death in head and neck cancers. The principle of stereotactic radiosurgery can be applied to the treatment of head and neck cancers, and this chapter focuses on the emerging evidence for the use of stereotactic radiotherapy in the treatment of head and neck cancers, with emphasis on selection of patients, techniques, dose and fractionation, and late complications.
