XML Schema is a schema language that allows to constrain XML documents and provides type information about parts of the XML document. It is defined in a World Wide Web Consortium recommendation [24142,24143,3].

Unlike document type descriptions (DTDs) that have been defined in the XML recommendation [4], XML Schema is using an XML based vocabulary to describe the schema constraints.
