Abstract
Since 1948 four men have served the American Physiological Society (APS, the Society) as executive secretary-treasurer. Milton O. Lee held the office from 1948 to 1956 Ray G. Daggs from 1956 to 1972, Orr E. Reynolds from 1973 to 1985, and Martin Frank from 1985. The most recent twenty-five years therefore include much of Daggs’ tenure, all of Reynolds’, and the beginning of Frank’s. All three men came to APS from responsible positions in federal research programs.
