Abstract

Waste forms under consideration internationally for the first barrier storage of radioactive wastes include various glasses, cement, cermet, calcine, supercalcine, phosphate, composite forms, synroc, and others. Intensive work on all of these has been carried out over the last several years, and many of these forms exhibit extreme resistance to leaching under assumed repository conditions.
