The Influence of Linoleic and Linolenic Acids on the Development and on the Lipid Metabolism of the Colorado Potato Beetle (Leptinotarsa Decemlineata Say)

  • Chapter
The Host-Plant in Relation to Insect Behaviour and Reproduction

Abstract

The influence of linoleic and linolenic acids on the physiology of Colorado potato beetle was studied. The larvae and the beetles were fed with food supplemented with linoleic and linolenic acids. Observations were made on fertility, mortality, activity and feeding habits. The metabolism of fatty acids was studied, too.
