Abstract
The need to provide children, and particularly adolescents, with education in human sexuality continues, contrary to many indications in the recent past, to be a matter of dispute notwithstanding what has been called the epidemic of teenage pregnancy and the gradual change in public attitudes toward sexual behavior in general. The issues in this area center on the appropriate provider of, access to, and content of sex education, and, particularly, on the respective roles of the family and the state. It is in relation to these questions that the law has its greatest impact in the field of sex education.
