Abstract

In this lecture I will present a brief history of the development of superstring theory, with an emphasis on my own contributions. I will not attempt to give a comprehensive history of string theory, which would deserve an entire dedicated conference of its own. Also, this talk will neither teach you string theory nor try to convince you that it is correct.
