Abstract
The system of magnetic impurities in metals1 and allied systems of mixed valence2 and heavy fermions3 have recently become subjects of active interest to physicists. Perturbation theoretic Green functional analysis predicts4,5 a linear behaviour of the specific heat of the impurities at low temperature. Experimental results6 for CuCr, on the other hand, shows a Schottky-type behaviour. In an earlier work7 we have obtained Cd ~ (1/T2) exp − α/T for the low temperature specific heat of the impurities. This behaviour points to a BCS type correlation of electrons in the impurity states, which we have investigated here. We have obtained some criteria when correlation can exist.
