Abstract

Research into the pathogenesis of hyperlipidemias and their clinical consequences as well as into their therapy depends to a large extent on the establishment of their etiology, genetic and/or environmental. Among the hyperlipidemias those with elevated levels of cholesterol and LDL in the plasma, i.e. the diseases with the lipoprotein pattern type II carry a particularly unfavourable coronary prognosis. We have therefore studied the incidence of one of these hyper 1ipidemias, namely type lia, further on called hypercholesterolemia type lia, in a population in München, Bavaria.
