Abstract
This is perhaps a strange subtitle to “Who Will Pilot the Ark?” In reality, the primate populations of 1985 are under study, are being investigated, probed, observed, and scrutinized intensely. Whether in nature, in a laboratory, or in a zoological garden this holds true. We are concerned, motivated, and enthusiastic about our work. If we were not, we would not be here today. But how do we ensure the future for the Order Primates of which we are members? What can we do to make certain that future generations of aye-aye, mountain gorillas, and muriqui are there, living, breathing, behaving, and not a series of skins and skulls in a museum collection? Perhaps our encounter this week gives a clue to the future and provides direction.
