Abstract

Most people assume they choose their behavior rationally, selecting the response they expect will bring them the most pleasure and the least pain. Opposed to this “Theory of Rational Behavior” (TRB), S-R Learning Theory (LT) stipulates that behavior is emitted reflexively by stimuli triggering the response to which they have the strongest connections, and that these connections are subsequently reinforced or weakened.
