Abstract
In this chapter we will briefly compare our approach with the, by now classical, existence results obtained by the method of viscosity. We will discuss only the case of first order partial differential equations where our results are comparable with those obtained by the viscosity method. In the second order case, although some results could be compared, they are essentially of a different nature; a similar remark applies to systems of equations (see the bibliography and the introduction for more details).
