Abstract
Pediatric nursing, involving care of the patient with congenital heart disease, spans the entire age continuum from birth to adults. This chapter will describe preoperative care of the newborn and nursing care of the adult included in this population. Also discussed will be same-day surgery admission practices for all patients with congenital heart disease and the education and counseling involved when caring for the family with a prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease.
