Abstract

The veterinary medical domain has been a difficult area to model for many reasons. In this paper we report our work which has been towards investigating two alternative approaches to solve this problem. The veterinary medical domain was modelled using both a rule-based and a case-based approach. The two prototype systems developed were then presented to clinicians at the Royal Veterinary College. The feedback from the clinicians indicated that the CBR approach was more appropriate and also would have value as a teaching aid.
