Abstract
Aspergillus infection of the gastrointestinal tract occurs almost exclusively in immunocompromised patients, particularly those with prolonged neutropenia, and thus bone marrow transplant recipients are at particular risk for invasive aspergillosis. The majority of patients with aspergillosis also have coexistent lung lesions.Aspergillus species have replaced Candida species as the most common fungal pathogen at some institutions.
