Abstract
In this chapter, we will consider the technology decisions to be made in terms of the hardware required for a RAC cluster. The question of hardware is often neglected by DBAs; however, for a well-tuned application, the potential performance improvements offered by the latest hardware running Linux can often be orders of magnitude greater than those achievable by upgrades or software tuning in an existing environment.
