Potential Use of Pasteuria Spp. In The Management of Plant Parasitic Nematodes

  • Chapter
Integrated Management and Biocontrol of Vegetable and Grain Crops Nematodes

Part of the book series: Integrated Management of Plant Pests and Diseases ((IMPD,volume 2))

Abstract

Potentials of Pasteuria penetrans and close bacterial nematode parasites are reviewed. Several aspects concerning the identification and recognition of P. penetrans are discussed, with description of the bacterium’s life cycle, biology, host range and specificity. The application of traditional and molecular taxonomic methods for the identification of isolates and species as well as the available technologies forin vivo and in vitro mass culture are also reviewed.
