Abstract

A review of the femtosecond electron beam slicing methods used for production of soft and hard X-ray and low intensity high-energy electron femtosecond pulses on synchrotron radiation sources ALS and BESSY2 is given. Some new methods proposed for the same purposes are considered. Options for future higher energy SR sources ALBA, CANDLE etc are discussed.
