Abstract

The southern part of Staffordshire including Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley was transferred to the new metropolitan county of the West Midlands in April 1974. Otherwise Staffordshire’s boundaries, with Salop in the west, Cheshire in the north-west and Derbyshire in the east, remained unchanged.
