Abstract
According to United Nations data, almost half of all international migrants in the world are women; even if official statistics, at world and national level, cannot be considered reliable (they use different sources and are not always up to date), they show a major trend in migratory movements: an increase in the movement of women and an increased number in ethnic communities. In Europe, women constitute around 45 per cent of the immigrant residents.
