Abstract

Cyril Tourneur was probably born in the 1570s, but nothing is known of his parentage or early life. He seems to have spent much of his adult life in military service abroad. He published a satirical poem in 1600, and in 1611 his play The Atheist’s Tragedy was published. His authorship of The Revenger’s Tragedy (1607) is not certain.
