Abstract

From [Heywood Broun], ‘What the Soldier Thinks of Shaw’, Literary Digest (New York), 25 August 1917. Heywood Campbell Broun (1888–1939), socialist, journalist and author, worked for the New York Tribune from 1912 to 1921. He came across Shaw’s signature in the visitors’ book of the chteau reserved for guests at British Headquarters, and sent a report of the ensuing conversation to the Tribune, whence it reached the Digest.
