Abstract
FOR MORE than thirty years, the only human space voyages have been going round and round, in the region of space called Low Earth Orbit — perhaps 500km above Earth’s surface. Voyages beyond this zone, back out to the moon and ultimately farther, will require surmounting both technological and conceptual barriers.
