In communications, computer, data processing, and control systems, to change an entity from one form to another, such as to change (a) the representations of information, i.e., data, from one form to another without changing the information they represent, i.e., each conversion occurring without loss of meaning, accuracy, or precision of the information represented by the data, (b) electronic pulses to corresponding optical pulses, (c) one radix to another, (d) one code to another, (e) analog data to digital data, and (f) data on magnetic disks to data on magnetic tape. 2. To change from one condition or state to another, such as to computerize a system, i.e., to change from a noncomputer-based system to a computer-based system, such as to convert an existing manual inventory control system to a computer-controlled system.
