Melton et al. (1997) make precisely this observation, noting that some courts would apply Frye to the physical sciences but not the behavioral sciences, and others apparently conclude that if a technique, procedure, or diagnosis is sufficiently well accepted to be a part of clinical practice, that it is sufficiently well accepted to satisfy Frye.
