The ester of l-menthol and γ-aminobutyric acid, (1R,2S,5R)-2-isopropyl-5-methylcyclohexyl 4-aminobutyrate hydrochloride was synthesized. Its anticonvulsant activity was studied in vivo by determining the minimum effective doses of pentylenetetrazole inducing clonic-tonic convulsions and tonic extension. Menthyl γ-aminobutyrate possessed prolonged anticonvulsant activity.
