Abstract
I report on the story of a candidate Seti signal which lasted (and rested) for six years in a corner of my specific scientific work on galaxies. I shall sketch briefly the slow acquisition of observational data, with its ups and downs, and show the influence of chance personal contacts with colleagues and the effect of advances in other research fields. The shift of my interest towards Bioastronomy, triggered by the Patras Assembly, and the sudden appearence of a (not so bright!) idea had their roles also, together with probabilist changes of mood and the realization that I ought not to keep this unsettled candidate for myself, Alas, in the end it was only a nice extraterrestrial adventure…
