1985 JA. Discovered 1985 May 14 by C. S. Shoemaker and E. M. Shoemaker at Palomar.

Named for a daughter of Praetus. She was a follower of Artemis {see planet (105)} and was killed by the goddess for having given herself to Zeus {see planet (5731)}. Before dying, she gave birth to Locri, ancestor of the Locrians. (M 11751)
