Abstract

The field of educational technology has a rich history of scholarly research incorporating a wide variety of methods, spanning both qualitative and quantitative paradigms, that has been published in an even wider collection of journals. Because our discipline integrates with other disciplines as a “meta” field, publication data is difficult to collect and interpret. However, there have been frequent studies seeking to understand what is being published, by whom and where, and what implications will be resulting. These meta-syntheses are useful because they help us understand the reach and boundaries of our discipline and what topics are being discussed, and which ones are not. They also help us become aware of new scholars, including internationally.
